People always ask, "how did you get to where you are?" It might be as easy as, "My mom's a chiropractor, so I became a chiropractor," but that's not really how the story goes.

I went to Michigan State University to be a vet, found out a couple of things that I knew I didn't want to do.

Growing up in a chiropractic family, turning into a medical doctor was not something I ever aligned with.

I wanted a more natural, holistic way of life, and that's how I was raised.

That's what I believed in.

About my junior, sophomore, or junior year of college, I realized I was going to be a chiropractor.

Never told my mom. Just short of graduation, I called my mom and said, we have to go to Iowa.

She had no idea.

She thought I wanted to just see where I was born and see where she had gone to school and see where I lived when I was a kid.

What I then told her was, I need to find a place to live because I'm starting Palmer College of Chiropractic. She was in shock.

Needless to say, she dropped me off in Iowa.

The first few days were rough.

We're pretty family-orientated around here, and I liked having my mom around and a lot closer.

I made it through my four years at Palmer to return home and practice with my mom.

Traveling across the country was not something I had ever planned on doing.

Leaving my family was not something I had ever planned on doing.

I can't imagine my life without going to Iowa and living my four years in Davenport, Iowa, to become a chiropractor.

It's a profession that I love and something I love doing.

Although it was challenging at first and school was not always easy, it's been the best decision of my life.

Now I've moved back home to where I was raised, not born because I was born in Iowa, but raised in Clarkston, Michigan, to raise my children.

I've been in practice for 17 years, helping thousands of people in the Waterford Clarkston area.

Maybe a little part of me loved the idea of being a vet, and that's why I'm so involved in dog rescue.

I can't imagine my life any other way. Now it's my goal to continue to help educate and help the people and community of this area live a healthier lifestyle.
